The USMNT are LIGHTING UP the World Cup!

The United States Men’s National Team has been on fire to start the World Cup and have earned their way into the knockout round!

By topping their group, they plant themselves in a favorable path late in this World Cup. A possible meeting against Algeria followed by Egypt or Czechia is in store before the big dogs come around. The big teams such as Portugal are Spain would be possible opponents as well as Ghana or Austria in the proposed quarterfinal matchup.

Given the fact the USMNT has only been to the quarterfinals TWICE in their history, this would be an insane growth for them under Mauricio Pochettino. I can’t say they win any of those games, but seeing the growth of this team in such a short time has been wild. A team that had not secured a clean sheet since September is doing it on the big stage and while the competition so far (Paraguay and Australia) have not been great, you play who is in front of you and the USMNT have done that exceptionally well.

I would even argue the USMNT are currently one of the best performing teams in the World Cup. Along the likes of; Argentina, France, Netherlands, Spain, Germany and Mexico??? Rankings seem to always skew when competition is varied, but if the USMNT keep up this momentum they have, they can prove to be a difficult out at this World Cup and a team to watch as a dark horse for not just making it late, but taking some names with them.
