JUSTIN GAETHJE MADE HISTORY!!!
Justin Gaethje just did that.
In a world that many thought Ilia Topuria was invincible, Justin Gaethje proved that was a lie at UFC White House. It was shocking to see Topuria get so wild in his exchanges early in Round 1 that when Round 3 came around, it made sense why Topuria seemed off.
All the congratulations goes to Justin Gaethje and Trevor Whittman that seemed to finally crack this code to defeat Topuria. Gaethje utilized his uppercut and more importantly, his jab. It stopped Topuria in his tracks multiple times and an uppercut in Round 1 rendered Topuria’s right eye useless going forward.
Watching the fight at first glance it didn’t make sense, why was Topuria seemingly gassing out as the fight matured? Why did he attempt a submission in Round 2? I think once you pair how HARD Justin Gaethje hits someone and the fact that Topuria had a cracked orbital, that spells the truth.
Topuria had his moments, like Round 2 where he dropped Gaethje and had him against the ropes, but decided to go for a submission as the round was closing instead of letting Gaethje stand up and fight. If Topuria just lets Gaethje up, the fight is stopped, but this was 100% a mental error.
On a night that saw Ciryl Gane take down Alex Pereira, it’s very interesting to see where both Topuria and Poatan’s careers go from here. Their skill is still top of the UFC’s best, but how long until we see them in the Octagon after that much damage they both took?
What was your favorite moment of UFC White House?
